On Tuesday night we celebrated the opening of Phyllis Lane’s new documentary movie on Passion.
She was kind enough to interview me for the film.

Phyllis, Rodrigo, and I….

It’s a long story, but Phyllis and I met when I was 16. I interviewed her for a project in high school, called the “I” search paper. It was about discovering your professional path and more importantly, it gave us an excuse to interview local professionals and shadow them for a day in the field. Phyllis was one of my interviewees who was the up-and-coming young fashion photographer at the time. I remember being so incredibly inspired by her passion, giving spirit, and motivation.

Here we are, 12 years later and she is interviewing me about passion for her film. It’s strange how things come back around.

Phyllis has always been a wonderful mentor and friend and I credit her with getting me into the wedding photography business.

That is awesome! I love when things come full circle like that. Serendipity squared! As a musician and artist myself, I can’t wait to see the film. This, by the way, is exactly the sort of thing that the grad program I worked with is based on. There is also a kids program called Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts which was founded by the same director, David Spangler, on the same principles it seems like the film is driving at (we even study Csikszentmihalyi and Tolle in the graduate courses). We should talk with Phyllis about having a screening down there in Florida!
